Apple Fest weekend...

This weekend was our Apple Festival that's in Oak Harbor. We always go to it every year. On Saturday night we took the kids and Michael. We're trying to get Michael use to different people being around. So, we thought if we went at night not alot of people would see him. WRONG! Everyone and their mother made sure to see him. We would find ourselves covered with people. Michael did really well considering people would come running up sreaming IT'S A MONKEY!!! and try to touch him. Which scared the hell out of me, I'm sure it scared Michael. We made it out of the festival Alive so it was a good night. On Saturday my daughter Jennie was singing in the choir at the Apple Fest and My friend CC who owns Grivet monkeys too wanted to meet us up there. So... we took Michael and she took her 2 Grivets. Everyone around us really enjoyed seeing the 3 monkeys. I really hope that some people walked away with a whole new respected for primates. We told them about the right way to approach any animal. NEVER come running up to an animal and always ask the owner if it's ok to pet their animal. We make it a rule to not allow anyone in the public to pet Michael. One reason is because Michael can contact colds and other virus from humans. The second reason is because we have no idea how he might acted towards someone. So..we always play it safe by not allowing any contact. We are always up to educating the public about primates. Everyone wants to own a monkey but many have no clue what it's really like.

Next time maybe you should wrap your monkey in my beaver! That would offer up a lot of questions!
